I have not been on here for literally years. I wanted to do an update about Hot Springs, Arkansas.
My daughter has no car, no running water, no money (unless one of her many friends gives her some), and I suppose being on drugs and alcohol has something to do with it. Not that she was normal in elementary school. She was always very strange. Her sister is a gem.
She has half a dozen or more men (and one woman) who drive to her "house" to bring her dumpster food or blankets and so forth all year around. She has no insurance and let one "man" spend the night at her house when she wasn't there.
She ended up with head lice.
She got the special lice shampoo but could not wash her linens in hot water since someone stole her washer and dryer. Her head became infected with puss and a lot of hair fell out. I nagged and begged her to go to the hospital. So two weeks ago, in an ice storm, she finally called an ambulance and was transported. Happy ending? Not so fast.
The doctor on call in the ER said, "do you know what time it is?" Now, wait ; this is an emergency room so what difference would that make ? It was four thirty a.m. The doctor looked at her head with the puss, swelling and hair loss and said, "this is NOT an emergency. Leave." She was in a lot of pain so she begged for an aspirin. "No" he said. She then walked the mile home in the storm. I wonder if she had had insurance would he have responded differently?
I will ask her his name. This is unacceptable. Her neck is inflamed and her sister, a nurse, said it is close to the brainstem and she needs antibiotics. I thought, "they can come get me and throw me in jail. I do not care; this is my daughter" and mailed her dozens of antibiotics. The post office opened the package, probably identified the pills as not being narcotics and re-packaged them. Her head is looking better but she really needs IV antibiotics in my non-professional opinion. I am sending her more Bactrims soon. She could die of sepsis because, after all, "it's four thirty a.m."
The hospital she went to is one of four or five St Joseph's hospitals in Hot Springs. I will find out which one. I told her to build a campfire and boil her pillow cases and sheets. I hope she does it . I will post a photo of the back of her head if I can figure out how to transfer it from email to Blogspot.
